after a fire burned their home. ktvu channel 2 reporter claudine wong has been there since 4:30 this morning getting a close look at the damage. >> reporter: good morning, tori. we have daylight. we can get a look at the damage. you can see how hot this fire burned. there was a partial roof collapse this morning. so waiting for daylight was very important for investigations to make sure it was safe so they can figure out what areas are safe to go into as they try to figure this out. we just talked to a neighbor who practically could feel the heat of the fire from his deck. he told us what he saw. >> from what i could tell, it was another oakland hills fire. it was so intense and so big. i thought what's going on here? it was just the one house. but it was very scary. >> reporter: when he first saw the firefighter, the firefighters were not called get. they got a call at about 12:15 and they got here and saw the fire was surrounding threatening -- the fire was threatsenning surrounding homes and they called for backup. there was one person in a wheelchair. two officers were a

saturday. ktvu channel 2 news. >>> happening now, tension at oakland city hall where in the last few minutes dozens of people have been sdod leave city council chambers following some heated exchanges over a police shooting. this is a live look right now outside the meeting. protesters are demanding the police report on a shooting back in may that took the life of 18-year-old alan blooper. we are told the protesters got a copy of that report and protesters are still not happy. our crew was there earlier tonight and some protesters were kept out of the council meeting [ crowd chanting ] . >> the gallery and balcony inside the council chambers have been shut down. the city calls it a security precaution. we caught up with blooper's father about an hour ago as he marched with demonstrators. >> my thing is not to take over the city hall meeting. we want to make sure the city hall is aware of my son's death and doing something about it. >> two weeks ago a group of protesters interrupted the city council meeting forcing it to end early. >>> police in oakland are now investigating their fif

." in studio, we have tom vacar, computer editor for ktvu news and josh richman, regional political reporter for the bay asia news group. and joe garofoli, political reporter for "the san francisco chronicle." joe, you were in denver for the first presidential debate. must have been hard covering it, since there were so many people tweeting that night. tell us what's happened since then. how are the candidates -- >> things have really evolved over the last 40 ho8 hours. it was widely perceived that the president did not have a good night. didn't really realize the date is also a show, not just a competition of ideas. but in the intervening 48 hours, been a lot of fact checking, some of the stuff that romney said, that's catching up to him and the job numbers have come out today. and those have been helpful to the president, a little pit, the unemployment rate dropped to 7.8%, the lowest since he's been president, and that helps. because the republicans have been saying the last three years, unemployment rate has been high and not dropping below 8%. so, this is sort of a symbolic victory. not
